About Digital Twins and Applications
Our inaugural International Conference on Digital Twins and Applications 2026 (DTA APAC 2026), co-hosted by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Zhejiang University, will be held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 10 to 11 January 2026.

Under the theme ‘Exploring the Transformative Power of Digital Twin Technology’, the conference will focus on the digital twin's industry applications in revolutionising sectors such as power and energy systems, mechanical engineering, transportation and logistics.
It will systematically analyse core technological frameworks spanning data governance, intelligent modelling, and safety optimisation. Through the convergent innovation of enabling technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and 5G, the conference aims to construct end-to-end solutions covering infrastructure design, simulation control, and intelligent services.
This initiative is dedicated to resolving current engineering challenges within industry development and advancing the establishment of cross-sectoral digital twin ecosystems.
According to an analysis of the Inspec database, over 23,000 academic papers have been published in the field of digital twins over the past decade, with over 6,000 papers published in 2024 alone. The total number of citations exceeds 440,000, with an average of 19 citations per paper.
This field has demonstrated particularly strong momentum globally within the domains of information technology and engineering applications. Presently, digital twin technology is accelerating its deep integration with artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and other technologies.
It is demonstrating broad application prospects across sectors such as intelligent manufacturing, power and energy, and transport logistics, positioning itself as a key enabling technology for Industry 4.0.
This conference will convene leading global experts, scholars and practitioners in the field of digital twins. Attendees will engage in in-depth discussions on the fundamental principles, methodological frameworks and implementation models of digital twins.
The conference will systematically examine how enabling technologies—including the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 5G communications and cloud computing—drive the advancement of digital twins, with a particular focus on analysing their innovative applications within the industrial sector.
